Dhanishta can be found from 23.20’ Sidereal Capricorn - 6.40’ Sidereal Aquarius . It can also be found at the end of Tropical Aquarius .

This Nakshatra corresponds with Beta Delphini. It is found in the dolphin constellation. Like a dolphin, Dhanishta is intelligent and social.

"Dhana" means wealth and "Nishta" means foundation. An alternative name is Shravishta (Shrav means to Hear or Listen). So, Dhanishta translates to "The Swiftest", "The Most Heard Of", "The Wealthiest", or "The Most Benevolent".

Those born under Dhanishta have the potential to gain great wealth and prosperity in life. They generally have a kind heart and are very generous. People love them and show them respect. Dhanishta individuals can attract the right people and resources to become successful. Simply through their talents and social intelligence, they become famous.

Dhanishta is also called "The Star of Symphony" and is symbolized by a drum/flute. People born under this Nakshatra have a good rhythm. This can translate to skills in music, dance, and/or musical instruments. However, it refers to the ability to be in the right place at the right time. Timing is everything with Dhanishta. These are individuals who know when to be patient. Yet, they also wouldn’t hesitate to pounce on the right opportunity. Their social skills and politeness make them skilled at getting support from a team. In this way, they have an entire orchestra.

Dhanishta is ruled by the 8 Vasus (elemental gods/demigods of earthly abundance/rays of light). These 8 Vasus combine the power of 8 deities.

Dhara (Earth) shows the wisdom, social skills, and charitable nature of Dhanishta. Apah (Water) shows Dhanishta’s confidence, regality, and musical talent. Anala (Fire) shows the energy, ambition, and mental sharpness of Dhanishta. Anila (Air) shows Dhanishta’s resources, motivation, and business skills. Prabhasa (Sky) shows the vision, purity, and benevolence of Dhanishta.

Pratyusha (Sun) shows Dhanishta’s radiance, joy, and optimism.

Soma (Moon) shows the sensitivity, receptivity, and social skills of Dhanishta.

Dhruva (Stars) shows Dhanishta’s effort, consistency, and dependability.

Dhanishta is a Mars Nakshatra in the Vimshottari Dasha system. Mars Nakshatras are powerful, intelligent, sensitive, reactive, and direct. Dhanishta is the height of Mars’ influence. Mars reaches Exaltation at the end of Capricorn.

This shows the mastery of Martian energy. Both Capricorn and Aquarius are ruled by Saturn. Saturn can calm Mars. This is because they are opposite in quality. Mars is fiery and quick to act. Saturn is slow and intellectual.

Dhanishta is where a person can be patient but still act when needed. This is slightly less reactive than the first two Mars Nakshatras. Both Capricorn and Aquarius are mysterious and detached. This is due to Saturn being described as an introverted planet. Capricorn is especially behind the scenes and quietly planning/working. While Aquarius is mysterious but also very socially generous.

So, Dhanishta is reactive at times. Yet, they are mostly quiet and practical. The Capricorn side of this Nakshatra struggles more. There can be a feeling of mental struggle or unsteadiness. While the more social Aquarian side tends to do better. Either way, they are often blessed and well-liked by others.

People born under Dhanishta have to learn to slow down at times. They are highly ambitious and chase many dreams. Yet, this can leave them feeling empty sometimes. There can be a moment of crisis later in life. They must know who they are deep down. Focusing on external goals is not the only thing that matters. Dhanishta people also tend to choose a partner who is different from them. Sometimes this can cause marital disharmony. They might be very social and neglect their partner. This is due to having a less social partner.

These are the true humanitarians in the world. Dhanishta people tend to be entrepreneurs and artists. They strive to help others and to grow through new age spirituality. Dhanishta people can also see spirituality in the simplest of things. These are people who would give the shirt off their backs. Yet, they carry themselves with grace and bravery. Even to the point of appearing narcissistic. Dhanishta people might think highly of themselves at times. They can also make bold statements. However, they are very compassionate and generous. These are individuals who "march to the beat of a different drummer".
